RHODALIA

Born to Mozambican parents in Mbabane, Swaziland, in 1986, Rhodália showed a talent for music from a very young age. Her father, Maestro Faustino António Chirute, was one of the few Africans trained in orchestra conducting in the former USSR and mentor of Majescoral – Maputo Jazz Espiritual Coral – which, since its creation, has performed a variety of rhythms, encompassing classical, jazz, traditional and contemporary music. This influenced Rhodália's musical training, which, combined with her fantastic talent, has earned her acclaim in several Southern African countries (Swaziland, Malawi, South Africa and Zimbabwe), and she has collaborated with some of the greatest names in African music.

Although his father was one of the main influences on his musical career (from Monday to Friday, classical music reigned at home), on weekends, his musical practice swung between harmonies and rhythms ranging from classical music to R&B, jazz, and reggae, with a notable influence of African rhythms that, combined with Afro-jazz, influenced his remarkable creativity, through his musical compositions and the meaning of his lyrics.

Rhodália is a Mozambican singer and songwriter, winner of several awards, including the Ngoma Moçambique 2017 revelation award; the best voice of Mozambique at Ngoma Moçambique 2018; again the best voice at Ngoma Moçambique in 2022 and also the Vodacom Vibratoques award.

Rhodália, passing through Portugal, where, at the invitation of UCCLA, she performed at the Portuguese Language Market in Cascais, where her quality as a singer attracted the warmest comments, highlighting her ability to, through her spectacular interpretation, with skill, transport the audience present to Africa.

He later performed at the solidarity festival organized by the NGO Os Padrinhos do Mundo, which took place in the Gardens of the Baldaya Palace in Benfica, and at the Galeria LusoÁfrica, with the institutional sponsorship of UCCLA and the Embassy of Mozambique.

Possessing a strong personality that naturally asserts itself, besides being a great singer, she also possesses other abilities that, once again, highlight her resilience as a great fighter. She sings in English, Portuguese, Zulu, Xhosa, Shangane, Swati, and Chichewa, communicating fluently in all of these languages. She possesses great talent in diverse fields, such as gastronomy (which she inherited from her mother), and is passionate about agricultural and organic production, developing artisanal products such as soap, natural skincare products like massage oils, creams, and even beer. In fashion, she also displays great creativity, designing much of the clothing she wears.

Finally, we cannot fail to mention the central role, one of great responsibility and love, that characterizes Rhodália. It is the fact that Rhodália is a MOTHER. Everything she does, and does well, reflects her reason for being—her daughters, her offspring, come first, making these characteristics comparable to those of an African lioness.
