NATIVE SPIRIT

Espírito Nativo is rooted in the wide variety of Latin American musical genres, creating different projects to which it invites different musicians.

The result, presented in various concert proposals, is a combination of diverse materials and textures: the wood of the cajón and the Peruvian quijada de burro, the skin of the Argentine bombo legüero, the fragility of the Andean charango and the sway of the guitar, the festivity of the trumpet and the ancestral heritage of the Colombian harmonica. Everything comes together in a blend of European, African, and Indigenous musical heritages, the fabric that underpins Latin American musical traditions.

Culture is a journey with a round-trip ticket. The Native Spirit travels across a wide range of geography, from Argentina to Mexico, with stops on the coasts of Peru, the Andean highlands, the Venezuelan plains, and the Caribbean islands.

The chacarera goes hand in hand with the Peruvian fiesta, the huayno altiplanico gains momentum in the Venezuelan joropo, and the Cuban son is also son in Veracruz—son jarocho! What do they say among themselves? What do they seek?

Espírito Nativo draws on the universality of Latin American musical traditions to show us, in different accents, the various ways of telling our story.
