KOTA CARLÃO
Born in Angola, in Kalulu, Province of Quanza Sul on 20.07.1958, Carlos Alberto Peixoto da Costa, known as KOTA CARLÃO in the Portuguese music scene, is a singer, performer, composer and guitarist who, having had a passionate connection with music since an early age, has a great talent as a musician and “one man show”.
He graduated in civil engineering from ESEL, a profession he pursued for several years, participating in major projects such as the construction of the CGD headquarters and the Porto Santo harbor in Madeira. However, the call of music was stronger, and his musical career is now approaching 50 years of dedication.
Their musical influences are rooted in African culture, thanks to their traditional rhythms. Merengue, Rebita, Semba, and Kizomba are some of KOTA CARLÃO's biggest influences.
It is also worth noting the parallel that Bossa Nova, Samba, Mornas, Coladeiras and Funaná represent in the vast repertoire of this great musician.
Sponsored by famous musicians such as Filipe Mukenga, Cláudio Kumar and Fausto, he had musical participations with musicians such as Paulo Gonzo, Jorge Palma, Bonga, Nelo Carvalho, Paulo Flores, Dom Kikas, Puto Português, Hernâni Lagrof, Tropical Band and with his band, known at the time as Banda do Carlão, which included musicians such as João Deep, José Lima, Paulo Martins, Círo Bertini, Carlos Sanches, Kaipas, Nanuto and Dalu, among others.
