MARCO OLIVEIRA
Musician, singer and composer with roots in fado, he has performed in theaters and festivals around the world:
Spain, France, Switzerland, Ireland, Belgium, Denmark, Czech Republic, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Cape Verde and the United States are some of the countries that are part of its trajectory.
He has five albums already released:
Portrait (2008), Love is running water (2016), Streets and Memories (with musical production by José Mário Branco in 2019; album of the year in the newspaper Ípsilon - Público in 2021), A Night in Lisbon - live at São Luiz (2023) and The Path is what remains of the journey (2025).
Rooted in the culture and experience of his city's traditional music, he studied classical guitar at the National Conservatory between 2003 and 2006 and attended the Faculty of Arts at the University of Lisbon. It is from this melting pot of teachings that his artistic diversity emerges.

In 2009, he was invited to perform in Turkey, at the Kemal Kurdas Culture Hall in Ankara and at the Hattusa Orchestra Concert. That same month, he participated in the Cross-Culture Festival in Warsaw. That same year, he received the Francisco Carvalhinho Award from Casa da Imprensa.
A year later, he joined the project !Com que voz”, a tribute to the great Portuguese poets produced by guitarist Ricardo Parreira, which invited some of the most
important European city festivals - Brussels, Ghent (Odegand Festival), Antwerp,
Vilnius and Prague.
In January 2013, the Há Fado no Cais cycle opened with a concert at the Cultural Center of
Belém, produced by the Fado Museum and EGEAC. In June 2014, he received an invitation from the singer-songwriter
Italian Vinicio Capossela to perform two songs as a duo at the Tivoli Theatre in Lisbon.
2016 is the year of Amor é água que corre, his second album. That year he received an invitation to join the project "Fado Barroco" with the group Os Músicos do Tejo in the main auditorium of the Foundation.

The show was released on record the following year under the name “From Baroque to Fado” by the prestigious record label Naxos Records.
2017 was an intense year with visits to Latvia on a trip to the Riga Jazz Stage, two shows at
Poland and also two performances at the Theatre de l#Alliance Française at the Festival de L#Imaginaire in
Paris. In 2018, he performed in the "Songlines Fado Series" in London. In April, he participated in the AME – Atlantic Music Expo festival – one of the largest music events in the world, in Cape Verde.
In October 2018, she traveled to Paris for a concert at the Théâtre du Garde-Chasse. In November, she prepared for a four-city US tour: Boston, New York,
Rhode Island and Washington. In December, she will perform solo in Copenhagen at the Koncertkirken chapel. In 2020, she will perform at the "Canary Islands Fado Festival" in Tenerife.
In 2021, he presented his third studio album, Streets and Memories, with concerts in Lisbon (Teatro da Comuna, Museu do Fado, and Teatro São Luiz) and Porto (Centro Católico de Operários do Porto). The album featured two major names in Portuguese culture: José Mário Branco (production and musical direction) and Manuela de Freitas (interpretive direction).
Still in 2021, he was invited by the Spanish Embassy to create a concert in partnership with
Spanish singer Maria Rodés will perform at the Casa da Música in Porto. In 2022, she will perform for the first time in Dublin, Ireland, with guitarist Ricardo Parreira, and in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with musicians José Peixoto and José Grossinho. She will also perform at the Aga Khan Ensemble concert at São Jorge Castle in Lisbon, at the invitation of guitarist Ricardo Parreira.
In 2023 he participates in the DARCOS SEASON in the show LISBON-KABUL under the direction of Nuno Côrte-Real with performances at the Teatro-Cine de Torres Vedras, at the Teatro Maria Matos and at
Largo de São Carlos in Lisbon (Millennium Festival ao Largo) in partnership with the Afghanistan National Institute of Music. The album Uma noite em Lisboa, recorded live at the Teatro São Luiz, will be released in November 2023.
In 2024, he received the Composer Award at the 8th edition of the Voz do Operário Fado Gala. In 2025, he released his new album "Caminho é quanto fica da viagem" (The Path is How Much Is Left of the Journey), produced by guitarist José Peixoto.
In this album we hear original songs to the words of the most important Portuguese poets
from the 20th century: Eugénio de Andrade, Sophia de Mello Breyner, Sebastião da Gama and Miguel Torga are the writers who are part of this musical collection with poetry focused on the ocean.
